Special teams are one of the most important parts of an NFL team. We saw at the beginning of last year for the Chiefs when their special teams were bad, they lost. Just look at the Indianapolis Colts game.

It would be best to have good players on your special teams to win games. That is just how it is. The Chiefs will likely have one of their best young players playing on special teams, too.

At least, that's what the special teams coordinator said.

"Yeah, he should, you know what I mean? If he's up, I mean, you know, we got, we got to decide who's going to be up and who's going to be down," Dave Toub told the media when asked if Justyn Ross will play special teams.

"That's always a factor, you know, anybody that's up will be a, will be somebody that helps us, you know, they won't be up for no reason."

The thing is, we all assumed Ross would have to play special teams. The Chiefs kept seven receivers on the roster this year, and Ross is the last guy. With seven, you knew some of the guys at the bottom were going to have to play special teams; Ross falls in that category.

However, Ross should be one of the guys not to have to fall into that category, at least for his first season.

Ross has dealt with injuries his entire career, and throwing him on special teams just gives him another unnecessary way to get injured potentially.

But he does have great size and speed that will be utilized on special teams regardless. The Chiefs do know what they're doing.
