It's Monday. The Detroit Lions lost on on Thanksgiving an some Lions fans are down really bad right now. There's people out there that think the Lions are about to go 8-9 and have an epic collapse. The Lions, mind you, lost for the first time in a month on Thursday. Here's the good thing. The Lions are entering the month of December with their next game. The Lions have been their best in December with Dan Campbell at the helm.
In 2021 the Lions were coming into the month of December with an 0-10-1 record and they had just lost on Thanksgiving. Then they won their first game of the season on December 5th in a really fun game against the Vikings. Two weeks later they shocked everyone when they manhandled the 10-3 Cardinals at home. They did lose two games in December that year, but the point is that this is where the Lions turned things around and figured it out.
In 2022 the Lions went into December at 4-7 after a Thanksgiving loss and rattled off three straight wins before suffering that ugly loss to the Panthers at the end of the month.
The point is that the Lions have demonstrated that they can be a tough December team and they can also win right after a Thanksgiving loss.
The Lions are heading into this December on a different note than those teams. This time they're a winning team and they have something to play for this year. Sure they sort of did last year too, but this year it's in their control. The Lions can both clinch a playoff berth and the division in December if they simply take care of business.
They have a slate of games that could help them do so. They'll start with the Saints this Sunday. They're coming off a rough loss to the Falcons in which they allowed 228 yards on the ground.
Then there's the Bears in the only cold weather game of the year. It could be a tough one, but the Lions have already shown they can beat this team and now they have a better understanding of what the Bears want to do.
Then there's the Broncos. This could be a tough game. The Broncos have begun to turn their season around. Still, this game is at home and I think the Lions can beat them.
Then they'll finish off the month in Minnesota against the Vikings. We don't really know where they'll be by then, but they have a tough schedule with the Bears and the rejuvenated Raiders. They also play the Bengals without Burrow. They lucked out there. Still, even if they're out, they could be looking to play spoiler to their rivals.
Will the Lions continue to be good in December? We're going to see very soon.
Everything wrong with the Lions is very fixable
Alright, how is everyone feeling about the Detroit Lions after Thanksgiving? My guess is that some turkey naps and a couple rounds of pie has soften your feelings on the entire thing. Who could still be mad after pie? Now that everyone has calmed down, it's time to really diagnose what's going on with this […]
