While this hasn't exactly been the best season for the Minnesota Vikings, the one bright spot that this team can always fall back on is Justin Jefferson.

Jefferson is one of the best young stars in the league and has already defined himself as one of the faces of the franchise. However, wide receivers can only do so much depending on who is lined up under center.

Kirk Cousins has done well to maximize Jefferson and make the most of his time with the Vikings, but with his future in doubt after an injury and no deal for next year in pace, Cousins didn't get a massive vote of confidence from Jefferson when asked about the quarterback's future.

There are basically no wrong answers when it comes to Cousins and his future at this point. The offense hasn't been bad under Cousins, quite the opposite actually, and paying a guy that is always in the top-ten in most major categories is never a bad idea.

On the other hand, Cousins is getting older, just suffered a massive injury, and could be very pricey on the open market, even if he did just suffer a season-ending injury. Maybe you try to reset with someone cheaper and hope for a mediocre option to take massive steps on a team-friendly deal.

Regardless, opinions on the topic matter little from the outside world, but the opinions of players currently on the Vikings, especially the opinion of their most important player, matter a bit.

Jefferson had the following to say about his quarterback:

This isn't the first time that Jefferson has been asked this question and it certainly won't be the last.

This is about as on-the-nose for the company line as it could get, and that isn't exactly a glowing vote of confidence in Cousins' future in Minnesota.

Jefferson was never going to come out and make any demands in a setting like this, but a nonchalant answer like this mixed with Jefferson's ability to produce with anyone at quarterback over the past month seem to indicate that Jefferson doesn't have much of a dog in this fight.

"If it works, it works. If it doesn't, it doesn't" isn't exactly what you want to hear from a team captain when it is in regards to you getting a new, large deal.

Cousins could find himself staying in Minnesota, but more quotes like this happening sure won't help.
