Las Vegas Raiders may want to try and put one rivalry to the side when it comes to trading Jakobi Meyers
Jakobi Meyers wants to be traded from the Las Vegas Raiders, but one of the best places for him to go would be the 49ers.
We’ve already talked about it a million times, and have done what seems to be 30 other mock trades for Jakobi Meyers. But, the best one may end up being one that is with one of the Las Vegas Raiders’ biggest rivals, the San Francisco 49ers.
First, the Raiders are all about sending their players to places that will benefit the player, that is, unless there is a deal on the table that they simply cannot pass on. They aren’t going to send someone with the stature of Meyers to a place that will ruin his career, at least not intentionally. And, it’s even better if that place happens to have an amazing offer on the table. In this case, it would.
Raiders should look into trading Jakobi Meyers to 49ers
I know what every single Raiders fan is going to so, that they never want to trade to a rival, but I legitimately think this deal makes so much sense for the Raiders. They get off of Meyers contract with something in return, and they get a guy back who is cheaper and may be able to produce nearly the same numbers.
Honestly, it makes too much sense, other than the hump both sides would have to get over. This doesn’t feel like a deal that would ever happen because of the rivalry, but it is. Fun to do, and who knows what could happen?
The 49ers have been dealing with just about everything you can think of in their WR room this offseason. From injuries, suspensions, a recent trade, and even a contract holdout. You would assume they are approaching a bingo on their card at this point. So why not add another trade into the mix? The 49ers recently traded for Skyy Moore, but there’s nothing about his NFL career to date that should stop the team from making another move. I think the 49ers and Raiders could make a rare swap of disgruntled players at the same position here. The 49ers offer Jauan Jennings and a 2026 sixth-round (from the Minnesota Vikings) for Jakobi Meyers. Both had their best season as pros in 2024, but Meyers is simply the better player. I think this deal gives the 49ers a more proven commodity that I believe they’d be more inclined to pay, and the Raiders an ascending player whose price tag should come in lower than Meyers. Feels like a win-win to me. Offer: Jauan Jennings and a 2026 sixth-rounder for Jakobi Meyers. – Destin Adams, A to Z Sports
Jennings is a very similar player and has a very similar play style to Meyers. I think he would pretty easily fit into the Chip Kelly offense, while also not being a guy that has to be the WR1, and the second fiddle to Brock Bowers.
He could be the WR1 to start the season off so the rookies can get their footing under them, but he doesn’t have to finish the season as the WR1. He seems like the guy who is just happy with winning and wants to do whatever it takes to win. But, he’s also really good, and while Meyers wants to be traded, it will be important to continue to put weapons around Geno Smith, as that’s one thing that helped his resurgence with the Seattle Seahawks.
I’m not saying this will happen, or even that this exact trade is what needs to happen, but finding a way to get a skill player back, preferably a wide receiver, that’s cheaper but still good, is something that won’t be easy.
