The Buffalo Bills were able to pull off a thrilling comeback victory over the Baltimore Ravens, all while being a bit banged up. Ahead of the contest, it was announced that cornerback Tre’Davious White would be unable to participate, forcing rookie Dorian Strong to take some increased reps.

While Strong performed well, it’ll be great to get White back on the field as the cornerback No. 2 alongside Christian Benford. The latest team update is a mixed bag, in that White was able to practice and is trending in the right direction for the upcoming matchup.

However, despite the positive news, a slew of additions to the injury report gives cause for concern. Brandon Codrington, James Cook, Dawson Knox, Greg Rousseau and White were all limited during practice. Benford and Keon Coleman were listed as full participants while dealing with a groin injury, and both Taron Johnson and Shaq Thompson were unable to practice at all

McDermott opens up about team’s injuries

Ahead of the official report for the team, head coach Sean McDermott spoke to the media before practice, giving an inside look at White’s process as he recovers from a groin injury.

“We’ll see,” McDermott offered on White’s availability. “Dorian is a young player who did some good things [ . . . ] But we have a lot of confidence in Tre.”

Alongside White, Shaq Thompson is dealing with a hamstring injury, and Taron Johnson is dealing with a quad injury.

Tre White was back on the field for the Bills

For White, just seeing him back and participating in practice in any capacity was a huge win.

Sal Capaccio, Bills reporter and host on WGR550, spoke with White at practice. The veteran’s comments should have the fan base more than a little excited for his return.

“Felt pretty good,” White said. “Always good to get out there and practice, be around my teammates, getting into the routine. So, yeah, so far, so good.”

White had nothing but glowing respect for Strong, filling in and showing up in the contest. Strong left quite an impression on the veteran.

“Oh, that guy played a hell of a game,” White said. “Played good, sound football. Extra tight in coverage. Tackled really well. Hustled really well. No busted coverages, no busted plays. The lights weren’t too bright for him. It was everything that we expected him to do because he’s been showing that since he got here.”

Bills’ injury report includes some top-tier players on both sides of the football

Injuries are inevitably part of the game, but in Week 2, Buffalo has a few key guys from both sides of the football more than a little banged up. All nine of the players’ impact on gameday, and any one of their absences, would be detrimental to the long-term success of the team.

For now, all that’s left to do is wait. Get out your Josh Allen candle, sing Mr. Brightside or the Shout Song a few times. Luckily, there are going to be two more days of practice with injury reports to follow. All eyes are going to be on Buffalo and how they handle these injuries moving forward.
