The NFL announced it is fining Williams $23,186 for what it called “unnecessary roughness” for an illegal use of his helmet. The league handed out 20 fines in total from the Week 3 slate. Williams’ fine tied for the largest given out to any player this week. The league has made it known that it is trying to crack down on players using their helmets as part of tackles, and Williams is one of the most recent cases in which the league is showing it means business.
