Washington, who is in his first season at Arkansas after transferring from New Mexico State, has rushed for 393 yards and four touchdowns in 2025. He’s averaging 6.4 yards per carry.
Tennessee’s defense certainly hasn’t been elite so far this season — the Vols have the No. 103 scoring defense in the nation. But whether or not Washington’s comment is accurate doesn’t matter — it’s still trash talk that can be used as motivation by Tennessee’s defense.
Vols true freshman tight end Jack Van Dorselaer has already said that this week’s game against Arkansas is “a little bit more personal.” Washington’s comments should only intensify that sentiment for the Vols.
