DK Metcalf proves he’s more than ready for his AFC North debut with fiery quote about upcoming Steelers vs. Browns matchup

The Pittsburgh Steelers’ passing attack has been a lot of DK Metcalf and very little of anyone else. Perhaps that chnages when Calvin Austin III returns from injury, but for the time being, it’s Metcalf. Metcalf, and more Metcalf in Pittsburgh.

He’s not complaining though. Through a month of games, Metcalf leads all Steelers pass catchers in targets, receptions, receiving yards, touchdowns, and yards after catch. In order for the Steelers to avoid falling into a trap game against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, they will need Metcalf to keep things rolling.

Well, he’s been looking forward to the next two weeks for some time.

DK Metcalf is excited about starting division play

“I’ve heard that this is where real football is played,” Metcalf told reporters when asked about playing in the AFC North. I’m just looking forward to lining up against every other team that we play, including Sunday.”

Metcalf has a tough test in front of him on paper. One of the best corners in the league, Denzel Ward, plays for the Browns. But Pittsburgh can still expolite the Browns’ secondary. Cleveland swung a surprise trade this week, sending Greg Newsome to Jacksonville in exchange for Tyson Campbell. Asking Campbell to come in and thrive in his first game will be a tall task, but there is also another area that Metcalf can target. Brandon Little of A to Z Sports Cleveland helped me preview where Metcalf can attack.

“Cleveland’s defense is strongest on the defensive line and that plays right into what Jim Schwartz’s system is and is thriving up front. The play of Maliek Collins and Mason Graham in the middle has helped take the defensive line to the next level for the Browns. Cleveland’s one area of concern is the slot cornerback position, where they play former seventh-round pick Myles Harden. Pittsburgh may find success out of the slot, as well as positive yards after the catch in this one.” – Little

So this is where we find out about the Steelers. They have a chance to run away with the division. Lamar Jackson is missing yet another game for the Ravens, the Bengals are in full-blown desperation mode, and the Browns…Are the Browns.

We’ll see if Metcalf and co. can capitalize.
