Neyland Stadium, the home of the Tennessee Vols, is one of the top venues in college football
The Athletic recently ranked the top 25 venues in college football and Neyland Stadium, the home of the Tennessee Vols, came in near the top of their list.
Neyland is at No.6 in The Athletic’s rankings. The only SEC venue ranked higher is LSU’s Tiger Stadium.
“Neyland is my Roman Empire,” wrote The Athletic’s Seth Emerson. “I’ve never been to the Coliseum in Rome, or what’s left of it, but being inside Tennessee’s century-old stadium makes me feel like that’s what it would have been like.
“Massive, circular and enclosed, creating a visual that’s both intimidating and beautiful…The SEC has many great atmospheres because, hello, it’s the SEC. But as far as a pure venue to be inside and see a game — whether it was big-time football or a chariot race — give me Neyland.”
Neyland Stadium has been as electric as ever the last few seasons
Even when the Vols are down, Neyland Stadium still provides a tremendous atmosphere.
That atmosphere, however, is cranked up several notches when Tennessee is good (and the Volunteers have been pretty good the last few seasons).
Alabama Crimson Tide center Parker Brailsford, in fact, told reporters this week that Neyland Stadium in 2024 (for the Bama vs Tennessee game) was the loudest environment he’s experienced so far in his college career (Brailsford also played in a night game at LSU last season).
