Head coach Marcus Freeman and Notre Dame football are set to take on the Navy Midshipmen this Saturday Night at home. The Fighting Irish have won six straight games after beginning the season with a 0-2 record, and are projected to be in the College Football Playoffs if it began today. If the team is able to win out, they should be a safe bet to get in.

With a four-game stretch of Navy, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, and Stanford remaining, Notre Dame will hope to put some dominant film out there. While winning is all that matters, doing so with an exclamation point is still important. That begins with this battle against the rival Midshipmen.

Whether you plan to attend, watch, or listen to the Notre Dame game this weekend, here is how you should plan to do so. This matchup may not command the most eye balls from a national perspective, but it is still extremely important to put together a good performance.

On the offensive side of the football, this feels like the game to try and get quarterback CJ Carr comfortable early, and allow him to have a big day. The Navy defense is very poor in terms of pass coverage, and it should be exploited. This should also be a game where superstar running back Jeremiyah Love pads his stats a bit and make for a more compelling Heisman Trophy case.

On defense, the objective is always going to be for the Fighting Irish to be successful on early downs and force Navy behind the chains. Quarterback Blake Horvath and slot back Eli Heidenreich are outstanding athletes who have the ability to create some big plays. You have to live with a couple of the explosives, but try your best to keep this offense off schedule.

This is the first step in a four-game stretch to show that you belong in the playoffs. Let’s hope the Irish come to play this weekend in Notre Dame Stadium.
