Dolphins’ Jack Jones had a message for one of his former teams after his overtime interception to lift Miami to a win — and he didn’t hold back

Let ’em know, Jack!

Playing football (not fútbol) in Spain suits Miami Dolphins cornerback Jack Jones quite well, it seems. Jones was a central piece of Miami’s bend but don’t break defensive performance in Week 11 against the Washington Commanders, but it was his role in the final exchange that ultimately tipped the scales in Miami’s favor.

Jones, per teammate Jordyn Brooks, called his shot for an interception in overtime before snatching QB Marcus Mariota’s first pass of the extra period to set up a 16-13 win.

Jones, who has been through an up-and-down season that included a positional battle at one stage in the heart of October, has put together some of his best performances in recent weeks. And he’s apparently ready to declare one of his former teams made a major mistake in letting him walk.

Jack Jones puts the Raiders on blast for letting him walk this offseason

Jones was credited with three targets on over 30 coverage snaps in this game, while logging an interception, an additional pass defensed, and -3 yards as the primary coverage player. It’s hard to have a better day at the office than that unless you manage to catch multiple interceptions.

Jones, who had to wait until training camp to land with the Dolphins, had five interceptions in 24 games with the Raiders before leaving in free agency. Three of those five interceptions were returned for touchdowns — Jones nearly had a shot at another on his pivotal play in overtime, but couldn’t get past the Commanders, who squared him up after undercutting the throw.

The Raiders? They’ve got just two interceptions from cornerbacks this season, both by Kyu Blu-Kelly. The Dolphins got their first interception from a cornerback today, courtesy of Jones — so Miami would probably take exception with Jones’ suggestion that the Raiders should have kept him.

Miami’s needed him all season long. And after a fresh injury to the cornerback room in Week 11 (JuJu Brents left with an ankle injury), they’ll likely continue to need him the rest of the way.
