Bills QB Josh Allen couldn’t have picked a better time to play a Steelers defense with glaring weaknesses

Josh Allen having a monster day could be the key to victory for the Buffalo Bills.

The Buffalo Bills are looking to bounce back after a devastating loss at the hands of the Houston Texans in Week 12. Quarterback Josh Allen was sacked eight times in the contest, and the offense struggled at times to get anything going. Despite that, the team still had a chance to win in the closing moments of the game, but fell just short.

Some of the biggest question marks heading into the contest surround the offensive issues and which version of the Bills the fans will see on Sunday, along with how the defense is going to respond to the string of injuries that have ravaged that unit specifically. And, of course, playoff implications. With a loss, both teams will face an uphill battle and continue to fight “in the hunt” to make the playoffs.

With a crucial matchup at hand against the Pittsburgh Steelers, I spoke with Steelers expert and A to Z Sports Pittsburgh writer Rob Gregson about what Buffalo can look to exploit to try and make the game a little easier for them.

What is the biggest thing to watch out for with the Steelers’ defense? Buffalo’s game plan on offense has been lacking lately. What can they attack to be successful?

“The middle of the field has to be a priority for the Bills’ passing attack. Patrick Queen has been a liability in coverage for the Steelers’ defense, and the Steelers have shifted to two more high safety looks.

“That also leaves them vulnerable to more QB runs, something Josh Allen obviously excels at. Whether it’s play action over the MOF, designed runs, or QB scrambles, the Bills have to attack the liabilities patrolling the middle of the Steelers’ defense.” – Gregson

There were high hopes for both teams heading into the season. What broke for the Steelers? How can they get back on track?

“The Steelers were one of the more polarizing teams this offseason. Some believed they were headed for their first losing season under Mike Tomlin, while others believed they were true Super Bowl contenders.

“Right now, through two-thirds of the season, the former looks to be more on par than the latter. For Pittsburgh, the offense simply has no easy buttons. It’s a slog to get 5 yards half the time, and the defense has been up and down with schematics and players simply not executing.

“They still have the bones of a playoff team, but they have to start winning right now.” – Gregson

Final score prediction?

“Bills 27, Steelers 17. The Steelers simply don’t inspire confidence when it comes to predicting them to beat contending teams. However, this is traditionally a game the Steelers win.

“A home game on Thanksgiving weekend, as an underdog, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Steelers won, but I can’t predict that they will.” – Gregson
