The Tennessee Vols are among the top six schools for one of the best 2027 defensive recruits in the nation.

2027 four-star cornerback Xavier Hasan included Tennessee in his top six schools this week, along with South Carolina, Florida State, North Carolina, Notre Dame, and Ohio State.

Hasan, 6-foot/180 lbs from Raleigh, NC, is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 4 cornerback in the nation and the No. 1 player in the state of North Carolina. He’s also rated as the No. 38 overall player in the 2027 recruiting class.

Xavier Hasan is interested in Tennessee because he says he would see early playing time

Hasan, who took an unofficial to Tennessee earlier this season for the Vols’ win against Arkansas, told On3 that part of the reason he’s interested in UT is because he would have the opportunity to play early on Rocky Top.

“I get the option to play early there,” said Hasan to On3 of his interest in the Vols. “It’s pretty close to home. The overall program they get a lot of talent from North Carolina. I see the amount of love they show and they’re always checking up on me and it’s real nice.”

Tennessee currently has four players committed to its 2027 recruiting class, including three-star cornerback Kamauri Whitfield.
