Bills’ Josh Allen had a fiery response when asked about the failed two-point conversion that cost Buffalo the win vs Eagles
Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen didn’t hold back when asked about the team’s final play vs. Philadelphia.
The Buffalo Bills outgained the Philadelphia Eagles 331-190 on Sunday, and quarterback Jalen Hurts didn’t complete a pass in the second half. With those stats, you’d think that Buffalo walked out of Orchard Park with a statement victory. Instead, an abysmally slow start from the offense forced the matchup to come down to a failed two-point conversion with only seconds left on the clock.
The Bills lost a heartbreaker, 13-12.
Quarterback Josh Allen, the reigning MVP, the savior of Buffalo, had the ball in his hands to try and win the game with a wide-open receiver in the end zone, but missed his target. Allen offered a fiery response when asked about the closing moments of the Week 17 loss.
“Yeah, I just missed,” Allen said. “Rolling left, gotta give him a better ball [ . . . ] just get into a play that we like, again it was there, and I gotta make it.”
Josh Allen needed X-rays after the loss vs. Eagles
Allen could be seen receiving medical attention after the loss, with head coach Sean McDermott quickly easing fans’ minds, announcing that Allen’s X-rays were negative. It was clear that at certain points in the game, Allen was in pain. He offered a one-word response when asked how the foot injury might have limited his performance.
“Zero,” Allen said.
While I don’t doubt Allen, I wouldn’t say that zero was an appropriate response, but you’ll never get anything other than that from the reigning MVP. He’s a fierce competitor and won’t rest on an excuse after a game and an opportunity like that. Make no mistake about it, Allen was bad during the loss, taking some 20-yard sacks, having a questionable fumble, and missing the game-winner in the closing moments.
“Gotta be better at the details, couldn’t tell you exactly gotta go in and watch this and learn from it.”
Ultimately, that mindset is exactly why Buffalo still believes its Super Bowl window is open and here. Allen won’t point fingers, won’t hide behind injuries, and won’t sugarcoat a performance like this. He owned it, absorbed it, and made it clear that the standard remains higher for himself most of all.
“Again, we can learn a lot from this experience,” Allen said. “Would rather have won and learn from that, too, but again, I gotta make a play.”
With everything still in front of them, how the Bills respond after this loss will matter far more than the miss that ended it.
