The Buffalo Bills walked into Jacksonville and left with their first road playoff win since 1992. Head coach Sean McDermott wasted no time calling out the Bills Mafia just moments after the win, while giving some special shoutouts to the organization for their efforts in the victory — and the toughness involved to reach this moment.

“Oh, man. Great win, great team win on the road,” McDermott said. “Glory to God, man. Just an incredible team effort. Great win for the organization, great win for everybody back home. And for all of those that came down here and supported us, Bills Mafia, man, we heard you, we really appreciate it, really do. Just tough, tough, tough football team.”

The fanbase could be heard throughout the contest. We’re surprised the shout song didn’t play after a touchdown with how loud the fan base was during the game. Bills Mafia is known to travel well, and Sunday was no different. A beloved fan base that cannot get enough of their team. A few select fans even met up with the team at the airport hours later, congratulating them on the victory.

Buffalo faced plenty of adversity in the win over Jacksonville

Injuries reared their ugly head in the victory, with even quarterback Josh Allen needing to get some medical attention. Wide receiver Gabe Davis needed to be carted off the field, and safety Jordan Poyer could not return after suffering an injury. Once again, Buffalo looked to the next man up.

“Some of the guys went down, some guys stepped in, did a phenomenal job, nobody blinked, kept our composure all the way through the game, which we knew would be a challenge coming down here against a really good football team that’s talented and well coached,” McDermott said. “We saw it through, so the guys stood firm, and you know they made the plays, we made the plays we needed to make.”

No. 17 was fantastic, but some other guys deserve their flowers as well

It wasn’t just all No. 17 that did his damage in the contest. In the closing moments of the game, veteran cornerback Tre’Davious White tipped a pass that fell into the hands of safety Cole Bishop to end the game.

“It was a great, great way to end the game right there,” McDermott said. “Good to see kind of Tre (White) 2017 and what he’s now doing for us, and then Cole (Bishop), kind of the other end of the youth movement here, so. Phenomenal, phenomenal play.”

A win like this is exactly what McDermott has been preaching all season: resilient, connected, and unshaken, no matter the circumstances. With Bills Mafia turning Jacksonville into a home away from home and veterans and rookies alike stealing the moment together, Buffalo proved this run is about more than just one player. If the Bills keep matching that edge, toughness, and unity, this postseason may just be getting started.
