Eagles eyeing former NFL head coaching darling to potentially replace Kevin Patullo as Philadelphia’s OC

The Philadelphia Eagles decided to remove Kevin Patullo as their offensive coordinator, a move that had to be made to kick off their offseason.
With that choice, the Eagles are now in pursuit of a new offensive play-caller, with Patullo potentially sticking around as an assistant in a different role on the staff under head coach Nick Sirianni. The latest news around their search is intriguing.
Eagles request to interview former Texans play-caller Bobby Slowik for OC job
According to Adam Schefter, the Eagles requested to interview Dolphins senior passing game coordinator Bobby Slowik for their offensive coordinator opening. Slowik was the Houston Texans OC in 2023 and 2024. In the offseason after 2023, he was one of the hottest young head coaching candidates in the league.
Before the 2024 campaign, Slowik interviewed for multiple HC openings around the NFL, even with just one season as the Texans’ play-caller. He had impressed many teams with his work with the unit’s young talent, and they wanted to get a better look at him.
Ultimately, he did not land any of those positions and was back on the market the following year.
The buzz was palpable then, but in 2024, the Texans’ offense took a notable step back due to inconsistency and putrid offensive line play. With that outcome and pressure to take advantage of C.J. Stroud’s rookie deal, Houston made an aggressive choice and moved on from Slowik at OC.
Slowik took an assistant role with the Miami Dolphins this past season under Mike McDaniel, who is now seeking a new opportunity after being fired by the organization earlier this offseason. He is also considered a potential candidate to be the next Eagles OC, and Philly reportedly wants to interview him soon.
The next Eagles OC will be the fifth one in six seasons under head coach Nick Sirianni. While some of that has been forced due to people leaving for head coaching jobs, Philadelphia’s decision-making at offensive coordinator has been a blind spot at times under Sirianni.
