Cleveland Browns reportedly have top free agent quarterback on their radar to potentially sign in March
The Browns are said to have their attention on one free agent quarterback specifically.
The quarterback position has been the single biggest thing to weigh down the Cleveland Browns the past couple of years, really it tracks back a couple of decades if we’re being honest.
Cleveland moving on from Kevin Stefanski in favor of Todd Monken as their head coach likely means another chance is coming for QB Deshaun Watson. The current answers on the Browns roster to be the Week 1 starting quarterback are Watson and Shedeur Sanders.
All signs point toward the Browns bringing in more competition to the room that’ll include Dillon Gabriel as well.
Browns connected to Green Bay Packers QB Malik Willis
According to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com, the Browns have soon-to-be free agent QB Malik Willis on their radar. Willis is set to be a free agent for the first time in his career after being the backup to Jordan Love for the last two seasons in Green Bay.
Willis is the No. 16 ranked free agent set to be available in March, per our own rankings. The current Packer made three starts over the last two seasons and is a dual-threat quarterback who could fit exactly what Monken wants at the position.
During his time with the Packers, Willis was 70-of-89 passing for 972 yards, six touchdowns, and zero interceptions. Willis had 261 rushing yards and three touchdowns on the ground while with Green Bay.
After being a third-round pick by the Tennessee Titans in the 2022 NFL Draft, Willis struggled in his first two seasons with three career starts and 16 games played. The fresh start for Willis to be coached by Matt LaFleur and learn behind Love in Green Bay looks to have done him a lot of good.
Cleveland has a big decision to make on where they want to go with the QB position. Watson is going to be on the books for at least the 2026 season, and Willis is going to come with a hefty price tag himself.
With the combine taking place this week in Indianapolis, we’re not far away from free agency and the Browns adding to their roster. Watch for Willis to be in the mix for Cleveland.
