Another glaring roster issue just became apparent as the Bills lose key depth piece in beginning of free agency
Not the best news for Bills Mafia.
The Buffalo Bills are going to be looking for a backup quarterback.
Mike Garafolo broke the news that the Tennessee Titans have agreed to terms on a two-year deal with former Buffalo Bills backup quarterback Mitch Trubisky. The deal was confirmed by his agents at Excel Football. A tough loss for Buffalo, which now finds itself in need of a backup quarterback.
Fortunately for Buffalo, it came during the infancy stages of the NFL’s free agency period, meaning there is plenty of time for Buffalo to bring someone in to compete for that position for the 2026 NFL season. Quarterback Josh Allen is obviously the starter, and the team also has options with third-string quarterback Shane Buechele signing a futures deal with Buffalo at the end of the season.
Buffalo loses backup quarterback to the Tennessee Titans
Trubisky came in for relief of Allen on multiple occasions throughout the 2025 season, earning himself a start in the season finale against the New York Jets. Trubisky shone, going 22 for 29 with 259 yards and four touchdowns in the Bills’ victory.
The veteran signal-caller spent three seasons with the Buffalo Bills, going 50 for 69 for 535 yards and six touchdowns with one interception during his stint with the organization. The MVP and NVP, both on the same team, were fun while it lasted.
It’s no wonder teams were calling after a performance like that. Trubisky was slated to be a free agent and didn’t have to wait long during free agency to find a new home in Tennessee. Trubisky reunites with Brian Daboll in Tennessee, giving Cam Ward a more than serviceable backup.
Still, Buffalo now finds itself adding another position to an ever-growing list of team needs heading into one of the most pivotal offseasons in recent memory.
