Giants make a bold decision to create a lethal one-two punch on offense in a new 2026 NFL mock draft, and some would hate it
Some would be confused by it, but the Giants could have a lethal rushing attack if they select Jeremiyah Love in the 2026 NFL Draft.
A new era for the New York Giants football begins this year with John Harbaugh leading the ship.
The team’s young nucleas on the offensive side of the ball is exciting to predict what their futures and in turn the Giants future could be. Jaxson Dart is entering his first offseason as the expected day one starter, and that adds a lot of confidence to a young quarterback. There are a few spots on the offense that could use upgrades, but in a recent 2026 NFL mock draft, the team chose to target a position where many believe it already has a solid young starter in place.
A new mock draft from A to Z Sports has the Giants creating a dynamic rushing duo by pairing Notre Dame Fighting Irish running back Jeremiyah Love with Cam Skattebo.
Giants select Notre Dame RB Jeremiyah Love in a new mock draft
“Tough selection here. I think the Giants have plenty of needs, but the board does not line up incredibly well for those. WR is deep in this class, so I chose a different sort of offensive weapon for the new regime in New York. Love is arguably the most talented prospect in the class, regardless of position.” – Adam Holt, A to Z Sports NFL Draft analyst

Love has been one of the best players in college football over the past two seasons. This past year, especially with the talented running back finishing third in voting for the Heisman trophy. Running back may no longer be valued as a premium position in the NFL, but whichever team adds him in the upcoming draft will dramatically improve their run game.
The Giants saw a lot of success from Skattebo during his rookie season, but I don’t think that should stop them from adding a talent like Love. Skattebo is coming off a scary injury, which sheds some doubt on his long-term ability to handle a huge workload. A shared backfield could make a lot of sense for the Giants.
The Detroit Lions dynamic duo over the past few years of Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery comes to mind on what the Giants could try to build if they made this selection. Love would take on the Gibbs role with his ability to turn any run into a touchdown call, and Skattebo would take on the dirty work in short-yardage situations (something he has shown significant comfort doing).
The thought of these two talented runners splitting reps would be a great plan for the Giants, but those who play fantasy football probably hate the idea. Love has the potential to be a first-round selection in redrafts and a lock to be a top pick in upcoming dynasty league drafts. So, Love having goal-line touches stolen from him in favor of Skatebo would infuriate fantasy owners, but I don’t think that’s something the Giants should personally pay any mind to.
