Notre Dame football is ready for a massive recruiting battle for a local star who is blowing up this offseason
Notre Dame football just made a really interesting offer in the 2027 class – now have a new talented linebacker worth keeping an eye on.
Over the last couple of weeks, Notre Dame football recruiting has been riding a ton of momentum. That includes landing commitments for 2027 running backs Lathan Whisenton and Isaiah Rogers. More good news is expected in the pretty immediate future.
As head coach Marcus Freeman and the Fighting Irish continue to navigate the class, there will also be some talented 2027 recruits who will get added to the board. We saw an extremely interesting offer extended to Indianapolis (Ind.) Warren Central linebacker Sean Fox. A fast riser this offseason, Fox has been capturing the attention of several big-time programs this offseason, including the Irish staff.
The linebacker board will be interesting to watch for Notre Dame moving forward. While Fox could have some upside as a defensive end long term, it does appear that the Irish staff views him as a true stacked linebacker. If Notre Dame does decide to push for Fox, they will be extremely hard to beat. Only time will tell if they make that push or not.
Notre Dame currently holds a commitment from IMG Academy standout Amarii Irvin. Linebacker coach Brian Jean-Mary has an opportunity to showcase his recruiting impact for the 2027 class. The board has been shifting since Jean-Mary was hired. It will be extremely interesting to see what the class ends up looking like, especially with how well Notre Dame has recruited the position over the last several years.
Sean Fox’s recruiting background
Fox is considered to be a four-star player by both Rivals and 247 Sports, while ESPN has him rated as a three-star right now. On the 247 Sports Composite ranking, Fox currently ranks as a four-star, the No. 281 overall player, the No. 24 linebacker, and the No. 7 player from the state of Indiana for the 2027 recruiting class. Those rankings have been rising fast this offseason.
Just like his rankings are increasing, so is the offer list for Fox. The Indiana native now holds over 20 offers, including the Fighting Irish, Michigan, Clemson, Missouri, Kentucky, Arizona State, Arkansas, Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech, Michigan State, Minnesota, Cincinnati, West Virginia, Rutgers, and Purdue, among others.
As a junior, Fox put together a tremendous season for Warren Central. The 6-4.5, 220-pound linebacker managed to collect 98 total tackles, 14.5 tackles for loss, and 6.5 sacks. Fox also forced eight fumbles and blocked two punts. His combination of athleticism and length offers a ton of upside at multiple positions on the college level.
