Chargers may have perfect prospect fall in their lap on day three of the 2026 NFL Draft

The Chargers need to invest in offensive line during the 2026 NFL Draft. Could one particular prospect be on their radar already for day three?

The Los Angeles Chargers must keep Justin Herbert upright and healthy in 2026 if they want to make a playoff run. While 2025 was another step in the right direction, they need to accomplish more, and their offensive line will play a key hand in exactly that.

They are already keeping an eye on a particular offensive tackle who could make perfect sense for them in this year’s NFL Draft.

Chargers showing interest in offensive lineman who may fall in NFL Draft

According to Ian Rapoport, Oregon offensive tackle Isaiah World had a top 30 visit with the Chargers recently. He is currently rehabbing from a torn ACL suffered in the Peach Bowl for the Ducks.

With that injury, it is fair to expect World could slide down some boards.

Once a player going in round two of mock drafts, he is now more of a day three option for a team who wants to take a chance on a physically gifted player who may be a bit behind other prospects in getting on the field or working out right off the bat once he is with his NFL squad.

“The injury clouds the immediate projection. Most ACL recoveries for offensive linemen run nine to twelve months, which means World is likely unavailable for meaningful action well into his rookie season at the earliest. The combine absence removes his chance to reset the narrative physically, and teams will be making decisions almost entirely off pre-injury film and medical evaluations. Chargers learned hard lesson at offensive tackle in 2025

Both Rashawn Slater and Joe Alt dealt with season-ending injuries for the Botls last year, and it derailed their season. After that occurrence, I believe that offensive tackle depth should be firmly on their radar for the upcoming draft.

Even if the talent is unproven, they need more bodies who can have some sort of ceiling behind those starters, who will hopefully stay healthy in 2026 and beyond.

For World, there would be no pressure on him to hit the field right away as a rookie, and that is the perfect situation for him.

Let him sit, learn, and develop in training camp and practice. Then, if disaster strikes, you have a talented player who could carve out a long-term role at some point for LA, even as just a swing tackle option for the offensive unit.
