Bills looking to address a major team need with an exciting move just days before the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft

The Buffalo Bills are doing their due diligence ahead of the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft. It’s been reported that the team has brought in Texas Tech defensive tackle Lee Hutner for a visit. If the Bills want to get over the hump, Hunter would be a smart decision from the front office.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year: Draft preparation.

The Buffalo Bills have been busy, bringing in players for virtual or in-person visits ahead of the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft.

The team is looking to flesh out the rest of the roster using the draft and the remaining free agents available in hopes of reaching the Super Bowl.

General manager Brandon Beane didn’t rule out drafting a wide receiver high despite trading for wide receiver DJ Moore, although there are several pressing team needs outside of wide receiver. That’s why the latest visit is so exciting. One of the areas that Buffalo needs to get better at is getting after the quarterback and stopping the run.

Buffalo was near the bottom of the league in stopping the run and desperately needs some defensive tackles brought in to help bolster that room. It’s been reported that the Bills have brought in Texas Tech defensive tackle Lee Hunter for a visit.

With Hunter’s visit, it would be the fourth nose tackle to come to town on an official visit. The team and Beane are doing their due diligence when it comes to that position.

Hunter is 6-foot-4 and 330 pounds with a speciality in stopping the run, all while being above average as a pass rusher. His run defense is next level, and it could be the very reason he gets drafted by Buffalo if he’s still on the board for them.

Hunter played three seasons at UCF before transferring to Texas Tech. Throughout his entire collegiate career, he’s played in 52 games with 82 solo tackles, 32 tackles for loss, seven and a half sacks, and one pass defensed.

Ryan Roberts from A to Z Sports broke down Hunter’s game and gave Bills Mafia a reason to be excited if he wound up being one of the team’s selections in the upcoming draft. Only time will tell, but here’s hoping Buffalo pulls the trigger.

“Texas Tech defensive tackle Lee Hunter went from a good player at UCF to a star at Texas Tech in 2025. At 6-3.5 and 325 pounds, Hunter is a massive human who can do the traditional things you would expect from a nose tackle at the point of attack. What makes Hunter unique is the quickness he brings to the table.

“Hunter will split a gap often, which is pretty uncommon for a man his size. He must continue playing with better pad level and improving his conditioning. There are certainly building blocks there for him to become a tremendous player on the next level.” – Ryan Roberts

If the Bills are serious about reshaping the identity of this defense under Jim Leonhard, it starts up front. Adding a player like Hunter wouldn’t just fill a hole on the roster; it would send a message. Buffalo knows exactly what went wrong against the run, and they’re not willing to let it happen again.

With the draft right around the corner, don’t be surprised if the Bills turn that due diligence into action and finally give this defense another anchor that it’s been missing.
