The Buffalo Bills have a superstar at quarterback in Josh Allen. His greatness cannot be denied, no matter how many times his critics try to shut him down. Bills Mafia is witnessing one of the greatest runs of any quarterback, ever.

While Allen still hasn’t raised the Lombardi Trophy, you can’t look at his accolades and see anything other than historic, eventual Hall of Fame talent. He puts on his Superman cape and gets to work, pulling off some things that have never been seen on a football field.

The talented signal-caller is one of, if not the best, dual-threat quarterbacks of all-time, and the numbers speak for themselves. On “Up & Adams” with Kay Adams, the host discussed that the most efficient rusher in NFL history isn’t a running back, it’s Allen.

Josh Allen is the most efficient rusher in NFL history

“This really puts it into perspective. Josh [Allen] is the current all-time leader in rushing success rate. Meaning, nobody in the entire history of the league has picked up those key first downs or touchdowns on the ground at a higher clip than Josh. That’s ahead of Michael Vick, Hall of Fame running back Larry Csonka, ahead of freaking everybody. You can’t just eliminate it out of his game, so what do you do? And I wonder, with James Cook, with the addition of DJ Moore, who Joe [Brady] loves.”

Saving Allen for the postseason, especially his legs, could be the difference in Buffalo claiming its first-ever Lombardi Trophy. With the addition of wide receiver DJ Moore and the emergence of running back James Cook, Buffalo could look to lean on those guys to save Allen some juice heading into the postseason.

“Maybe they can afford to take a little bit off his legs earlier in the season and throughout the regular season. Keep him a little bit fresher. Hard to do, easier said, and then like if you do that, you can let it rip more in the playoffs. Maybe that’s part of this. In a game where the smallest margins, the littlest things matter, I don’t know, I think that they might want to do that and like then let him go and fully unleash him if they want that Super Bowl.”

Letting Josh Allen rest his legs during the regular season could be the difference in bringing Buffalo its first-ever Lombardi Trophy

That’s the tightrope the Bills have to walk in 2026.

You don’t take the ball out of Josh Allen’s hands, or his legs, because that’s what makes him one of one. But if Buffalo can finally find that balance, where Allen doesn’t have to be Superman every single Sunday, it might unlock something we haven’t seen yet.

Because if the most efficient runner in NFL history is still standing, still fresh, and still dangerous come January, that’s where this whole thing goes from special to historic. The Lombardi Trophy then stops feeling like a dream and starts feeling inevitable.
