Ohio State football elite five-star commitment makes the admission Buckeye Nation needed to hear from him
Ohio State’s most important 2027 commitment has made a strong revelation. The latest around five-star WR Jamier Brown is great news for the Buckeyes.
When Brian Hartline left the Ohio State Buckeyes the biggest worry was the wide receiver recruiting and development in Columbus slowing down. Ohio State brings in a five-star recruit at the position every year and the class of 2027 won’t be any different.
Jamier Brown is Ohio State’s five-star pass catcher for the current recruiting class. The Buckeyes are fortunate he is an Ohio recruit now in their own backyard right at Big Walnut High School. Ohio State’s most important recruit in the class made a big decision over the weekend.
Ohio State gets just the news it needed from its five-star commitment
Brown has been committed to Ohio State since Nov. of 2024, and he’s remained solid despite Hartline leaving. The 5-foot-11 wideout revealed over the weekend that his recruitment is shut down, and that he won’t be giving energy to other programs.
“I think time is just too close to just be playing around,” Brown said, via Eleven Warriors. “I know where I want to go, and that’s Ohio State, so I really just don’t see no point in going anywhere else, honestly.”
Brown won’t be taking any other visits this summer besides to Ohio State. Ohio State’s top recruit in the class of 2027 was a player the Oregon Ducks have still been after. It won’t matter now, as Brown is solid to Ohio State.
“My recruitment’s been shut down for a minute, I just haven’t made it public,” Brown went on to say. “Me and Coach Day had a conversation, so it just felt great shutting down my recruitment, knowing how bad I still wanted to be there, and knowing how bad Coach Day still wants me to be there and the staff. And I just can’t wait to get up there and be great.”
Ohio State wide receivers coach Cortez Hankton has been able to build a good relationship with Brown and it’s a key part of this. The Buckeyes not having to fight off other schools for Brown is what Ohio State needed in this class.
Brown is the No. 4 wideout and No. 21 overall player in the class of 2027, per 247 Sports Composite. In an era where we don’t see recruitments completely shut down even when players are committed, it’s a nice development to start the week.
Ohio State can now focus on building out the rest of the class, where they have 11 commitments. The month of May and June will both be very key in what Ohio State’s class looks like for 2027.
