It has been a wild recruiting ride for 2027 Marion (Mass.) Tabor Academy top-100 quarterback Peter Bourque, who was originally committed to the Michigan Wolverines. After the Sherrone Moore saga reached its disastrous ending, Bourque opted to reopen his recruitment and search for his best fit. It appears that it could be Georgia football in the end.

Immediately after that decommitment, it appeared that Bourque might be trending toward the Penn State Nittany Lions. Notre Dame was also a team of interest, although the Fighting Irish never offered him and decided to go a different route. If they did pursue him, there’s a good chance that Bourque would eventually end up in South Bend.

With a commitment date set for this Thursday, May 14, two teams are trending for Bourque, according to Rivals recruiting analyst Steve Wiltfong. Georgia, along with the Virginia Tech Hokies, are the two teams to know, while Penn State has at least made contact recently. Bourque’s connection to head coach James Franklin and Virginia Tech makes sense considering his preexisting relationship with the Nittany Lions.

If it does indeed come down to Georgia and Virginia Tech, the smart money should be put on the Bulldogs. Bourque is a talented quarterback who has taken a winding road to this point. Things should, at least, finally be settling down after the last couple of chaotic days leading up to the decision.

Peter Bourque’s recruiting background

Bourque is considered to be a four-star player by each of the major recruiting platforms, while also being rated inside the top-100 overall players on multiple sites. On the 247 Sports Composite ranking, Bourque currently ranks as the No. 82 overall player, the No. 7 quarterback, and the No. 1 player from the state of Massachusetts for the 2027 recruiting class.

As you can imagine, a long list of impressive programs has pursued the talented signal caller. Some of his top offers include the Bulldogs, Michigan, Oregon, Ole Miss, Penn State, Florida, Texas A&M, Louisville, Kentucky, Arkansas, Virginia Tech, NC State, Illinois, Washington, Michigan State, UNC, Colorado, Wisconsin, Maryland, UCLA, Virginia, Cincinnati, Syracuse, Rutgers, and Wake Forest, among others.

The 6-4, 220-pound pocket passer is coming off a tremendous junior season for Tabor Academy, during which he was named the Gatorade Player of the Year in the state of Massachusetts. The NEPSAC Class B Player of the Year managed to throw for 2,241 yards and 18 touchdowns in nine games. Bourque also ran for 688 yards and 15 touchdowns on 80 carries, an average of 8.6 yards per carry.
