Ohio State football may have just pulled off the final move needed to land elite RB David Gabriel Georges over Tennessee
Ohio State’s top target is five-star RB David Gabriel Georges, and they just made an interesting chess move to make sure they beat out Tennessee.
The Ohio State Buckeyes have picked up a couple of commitments lately, but there’s no question their top target remains on the board with a July commitment date set.
Ohio State badly wants to bring in Baylor School (TN) five-star RB David Gabriel Georges. The Buckeyes are in a real battle with Tennessee to land the elite recruit and Ole Miss is the third-place team.
Gabriel Georges recently eliminated Georgia from his recruitment after canceling an official visit. In a recruitment that’s hit its home stretch, the Buckeyes just made an interesting move that could win over their top target.
Ohio State makes a chess move to best position themselves to land David Gabriel Georges
The Buckeyes extended an offer to Baylor School (TN) S Jordan Darren Djila on Friday. Darren Djila is an unrated safety originally from Canada just like Gabriel Georges. The two are really good friends and this definitely looks like a ploy for the Buckeyes to best position themselves to land the five-star running back.
”For me, it’s the fact that I can play for a team that’s got the best of the best, has (a great) coaching staff,” Darren Djila said of the Ohio State offer, via Rivals. “Having that meeting with Coach (Matt) Guerrieri and talking about scheme and what he could bring me in my football journey is something I’m seeking.”
This marks the first Power Four offer for the Baylor School safety who has offers from Dartmouth, Georgia State, and Kennesaw State. Ohio State would be taking the 5-foot-11, 185-pound safety in as a developmental prospect, but also as a move to try to get his good friend.
Gabriel Georges took to his Instagram story about the offer and sounded pretty happy to see it happen. The Ohio State target hinted at potential neighbors, to roommates, to being teammates.
Playing with a high school teammate would be potentially important to Gabriel Georges, and a player from the same country he is. It would allow the acclimation to living in Columbus to be a bit more comfortable. It’ll now be worth watching whether or not Tennessee extends an offer to Darren Djila.
If the battle is truly neck-and-neck, the Buckeyes may have just made the needed move to land DGG.
