Minnesota Vikings induct the most obvious player into the Ring of Honor
The 29th player being inducted into the Ring of Honor has been announced, and it shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone.
The Minnesota Vikings have had a lot of talented players during the course of their storied history, and running back has quite a few talented players. The best of them is Adrian Peterson, whom the Vikings have announced as their 29th entrant into the Ring of Honor.
It’s a long time coming for Peterson, who spent 10 seasons with the Vikings after being selected seventh overall in the 2007 NFL Draft, and it didn’t take long for him to make an impact.

It makes all the sense in the world to put Peterson in the Ring of Honor. He was a seven-time Pro Bowler, rookie of the year in 2007, four-time first-team All-Pro, and the 2012 AP Most Valuable Player award winner.
As a rookie, Peterson gained 103 rushing yards in his first game, and scored a 60-yard receiving touchdown in a 24-3 win over the Atlanta Falcons. His big coming out party was in Week 5 against the Chicago Bears, where he ran for 224 yards and three touchdowns, exploding for a Vikings team that was 1-3. He followed it up in Week 8 when he set an NFL record with 296 yards and three touchdowns. That record still holds strong today with nobody seriously giving it a challenge during the last 19 seasons.
Peterson then followed it up with an MVP season in 2012, carrying the Vikings to the playoffs with 2,097 yards rushing, just eight yards away from the NFL record held by Eric Dickerson.
His tenure led him to becoming the franchise leader in carries (2,418), yards (11,747) and touchdowns (97), which shouldn’t be a surprise. Some people may point to the off-field issues as reasons why Peterson shouldn’t be included, but that’s up to interpretation. His performance on the field is more than worthy and deserving on this honor.
He will be enshrined into the Ring of Honor on Monday, November 9th against the Buffalo Bills.
