A former Buffalo All-Pro has Bills Mafia’s back amid frustration with New Highmark Stadium
One former Buffalo All-Pro vouches for Bills Mafia’s right to feel frustrated about the new stadium.
There is no shortage of controversy around the Buffalo Bills’ new home, (new) Highmark Stadium.
Blocked sight lines from seats. A clumpy field surface. Ballooning ticket costs. It is an adjustment in more ways than one — for everyone involved. Just know one of the Buffalo Bills’ standout stars of the past decade has your back, Bills Mafia. Former Buffalo safety Jordan Poyer voiced support for frustrated fans centered around concerns at New Highmark Stadium during an appearance on CBS Sports.
Jordan Poyer backs Bills Mafia’s right for frustration around the changes around New Highmark Stadium
“I do think that it’s fair for the fans to be concerned and to be vocal about what’s going on with their seats. These fans pay hard-earned money to go to these games to support the team that they love. These Buffalo Bills fans are passionate about the game of football. So I know I would be pissed if I spent ‘X’ amount of money and I come to my seat and I see that I can only see half of the field. That is something, a topic to be brought up, something to be addressed. You build this new stadium, you want it to be right for everybody. And yeah, you say ‘purchase different tickets’ but these might be the only tickets that I could afford. And the prices have come up…I do think it’s fair for the fans to be vocal about and express their concerns.”
— Former Buffalo Bills safety Jordan Poyer
Poyer was a longtime success in Buffalo. “All-Pro Po” logged 23 career interceptions in Buffalo, earned the trust of the fan base, and helped author an era of competitive football for the Bills. That history and success give his words weight. When a player like Poyer speaks out and validates fan frustrations, it carries a different kind of authority than some random outside voice jumping on the pile.
Bills fans are among the most devoted in the NFL. Poyer stepping up to the plate to vindicate them in any concerns or feedback about New Highmark Stadium should continue to endear him to the Buffalo faithful. Poyer once led the charge on the field in Buffalo. Now, he has the back off the fanbase off of it.
