There’s a perfect landing spot for former Tennessee WR Cedric Tillman, and it would reunite him with a Vols teammate
The VFL is on the move from Cleveland, and a move south would make a lot of sense.
Former Tennessee Vols wide receiver Cedric Tillman received some tough news this week. The Cleveland Browns released Tillman ahead of their final preseason game, ending a three-year run with the organization after Cleveland drafted him in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft.
Tillman certainly got his fair shake in Cleveland, but the writing was on the wall a bit after Cleveland spent two early draft picks at the wide receiver position back in April. That being said, Tillman’s experience and potential should still give him opportunities on the free agent market.
The Miami Dolphins make too much sense
There just so happens to be one organization in dire need of wide receiver help that also has one of Tillman’s former Tennessee teammates on the roster: the Miami Dolphins.
The Dolphins’ wide receiver room is considered one of the worst in the entire NFL. Miami appears to be potentially leaning on rookies Caleb Douglas and Chris Bell, along with veteran free agent signing Jalen Tolbert and returning receiver Malik Washington. The Dolphins traded Tutu Atwell back to the Rams on Thursday.
There is no shortage of need at the position for Miami, and a reunion between Tillman and his Tennessee teammate and current Dolphins running back Jaylen Wright would make a lot of sense. The Dolphins could use a big target in the middle of the field and someone who can stretch the field for new starting quarterback Malik Willis. Tillman could potentially serve as at least as good an option, if not a better one, than what the Dolphins currently have on their roster.
We’ll find out in the coming days if Tillman gets that next opportunity and who it’s with. It’s certainly worth watching to see if Tillman and Wright could end up sharing a locker room together again in South Florida.
