Tough break for Baylor School quarterback Marshall Manning, the son of Tennessee Volunteers legend Marshall Manning.
Baylor School freshman quarterback Marshall Manning, the son of Tennessee Vols legend Peyton Manning, received some unfortunate news this week.
Marshall is serving as the backup to senior quarterback Keegan Croucher (a four-star recruit who is committed to Ole Miss) this fall.
But Marshall won’t be available for a few weeks.
According to Stephen Hargis of The Times Free Press, Baylor School head coach Erik Kimrey said Marshall will be out a “few weeks” with a foot injury.
Marshall made his high school debut last week in Baylor School’s win against Brentwood Academy when he played a couple of snaps in the first half.
The plan was for Marshall to see action in every game during his freshman season as he prepares to take over as the starting quarterback in 2027.
“I want Marshall to play in every game this year,” said Kimrey last week. “Even if it’s just two plays like that. Hopefully, it’ll be a lot more. But we need him next year, and he needs to get ready. And you guys that have covered us before, you know I’ve always let my backups play in non-region games.”
The foot injury doesn’t sound like anything too serious, so Marshall should still see plenty of action this season, but it sounds like it could be the end of September, at the earliest, before we see him on the field again.
