‘I would say yes, we do.’ Those words, as spoken by Miami Dolphins general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan, help to push the door shut on one of the biggest worries surrounding the franchise’s fanbase this season.
The 2026 year for the Miami Dolphins is all about building. Head coach Jeff Hafley has preached about it. Sullivan has, too. But the worry for many is that all that building will muddy the water relating to the biggest assessment Miami must make this season. That, of course, being the outlook for quarterback Malik Willis. But Sullivan just closed the door on that worry.

“I think any time your ability to move the football, your ability to handle the hard times as a guy, your ability to process…Malik I think is different than most because of the athletic traits he has, the powerful arm. I feel very comfortable that as these young players grow with Malik, we’ll all see what Malik is. The evaluation part of it is just simply playing the position soundly, making good decisions, using your legs when you need to use your legs, throwing the ball accurately, getting the ball out on time, processing. I know where you’re going with the question, it’s like, do we have enough around him for us to evaluate him? I would say yes, we do.”

Sullivan would go on to clarify that the internal evaluation of Willis may not look the same as a casual fan — and that context may be king beyond the raw numbers that Willis posts this season in what could be a trying year. But make no mistake about it. Sullivan expects the picture to be crystal clear on the future of Malik Willis in Miami when this season comes to a close. No matter the juggling pieces around him on offense. If he’s right, a Willis emergence would serve as a springboard into the future.
