Minnesota Vikings make necessary roster move, and it gives them much-needed insurance
The quarterback position is one that has been a pain in Kevin O’Connell’s side, and they have an insurance policy.
The Minnesota Vikings have had issues at the quarterback position for the last few seasons. They have mainly been due to injuries across the board, as Kevin O’Connell has been forced to start three-plus quarterbacks in two of his four seasons.
That aspect is why the quarterback numbers have been made a major focus, and that got a little more clarity on Tuesday.
Minnesota Vikings add Max Brosmer to practice squad
Tuesday afternoon brought back quarterback Max Brosmer to the Vikings, as they added him back to the practice squad.
This was an expected move by the Vikings, as they held onto Brosmer for the initial 53-man roster with the idea that they could sneak him past waivers. They were right in doing so, as Brosmer did clear waivers.
Having him on the practice squad gives the Vikings another quarterback to have in the building. It’s especially important for two reasons: Brosmer can contribute in meeting rooms and pop onto the active roster if necessary. He’s been in the offense for over a year, which gives him a leg up on another UDFA coming in.
The Vikings also had a couple of other players added to the practice squad, with wide receiver Dillon Bell and defensive tackle Naquan Jones being added, and the waived tight end Marshall Lang in the process.
The Bell and Brosmer moves haven’t been officially announced by the team yet, and likely won’t be until tomorrow afternoon once the transaction wire drops.
