The Las Vegas Raiders are set to get Ashton Jeanty in Week 1 vs. the Miami Dolphins. He suffered an ankle injury the last week of training camp. In the weeks leading up, some thought Vegas would keep Jeanty out to be safe.

Now, he’s back to practicing. On Wednesday, the first practice day of Week 1, Jeanty was a full participant in practice. Now, Jeanty is finally speaking out since the injury. This is a sign he’s good to go on Sunday vs. the Dolphins.

“I feel really good. Super excited to go out there and play a good game with this team,” Jeanty told reporters on Thursday.

But just because he was a full go on Wednesday does not mean he will play the entire game on Sunday. The Raiders could limit Jeanty’s snaps. And, depending on how his ankle is, that’s likely something everyone wouldn’t be opposed to.

If Ashton Jeanty needed to be on a snap restriction, the Raiders would be okay

Giving Jeanty some snaps off while fourth-round rookie Mike Washington takes snaps could be beneficial. Washington had a fantastic training camp and preseason. The following week, Jeanty’s presence will matter as the team faces its first AFC West matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Winning divisional games is crucial for any playoff hopes. While their exact strategy remains uncertain, it’s clear Jeanty isn’t expected to miss the first four games. Setbacks are always possible, but the team needs him healthy for the long haul. So, if that means giving the bulk of the carries to Washington, who showed a ton of promise in the preseason and training camp, then that’s likely fine. Also, the Dolphins are a team many aren’t expecting to be great. So it’ll be interesting to watch how it all unfolds.
