Josh Allen’s greatest feat on Thursday Night Football didn’t even take place between the lines
Josh Allen was unstoppable on Thursday Night Football for the Buffalo Bills. And thanks to a post-game revelation, we know just how special his performance was.
You’d think it’d be old hat by now. That the weekly performance of Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen would get old. It certainly didn’t feel like a ‘ho hum’ night at the office for Allen and the Bills’ offense against the Lions.
Buffalo was unstoppable, with Allen leading the charge. But a post-game revelation from TNF commentator Richard Sherman has cast new light on just how well Allen played. And, more importantly, what needed to be done for Allen to get on the field at all last night. It’s his most impressive feat of all.
Josh Allen’s dominant TNF performance for the Buffalo Bills came while struggling with the flu, per Richard Sherman
“You’re having a special start to the season â you were shivering in the hot tub before the game, you’re getting IVs, you don’t want to get admitted, but you were having a flu game of your own.”

Five total touchdowns. Five-for-five in the red zone. 69 yards on the ground. With the flu! Not that you’d expect anything else from Allen in the first game played in their brand new stadium. But you can’t help but marvel at just how well Allen played amid the revelation that he was going through it before the game.
Allen and the rest of his teammates will now get some extra rest and recovery thanks to the short turnaround this week. They’ll host the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 3 on September 27th â plenty of time for Allen to work through whatever symptoms he has lingering into this weekend.
