Commanders hit with a double loss ahead of London game against Colts, but the major question is still looming for Washington
Washington will be without a pair of key contributors on Sunday, with the quarterback situation with Jayden Daniels offering a more encouraging sign heading into the overseas matchup.
The Washington Commanders received a pair of significant injury updates ahead of their Week 4 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts in London.
Because the entire team has to fly overseas, roster decisions and injury designations arrived earlier than usual this week for Washington.
Commanders rule pair players out for international game
The Commanders will be without guard Sam Cosmi for a concussion/throat injury and safety Nick Cross due to an illness against the Colts. Neither player will be traveling with the team to London.
Washington will continue to miss Cross in the defensive backfield. Cosmi’s presence is dearly missed on the offensive line, even though Lucas Patrick filled in decently at center & Nick Allegretti looks much more natural at the guard position. Regardless, not having either player available for the game is not optimal.
Daniels, Luvu & Okonkwo traveling to London
Schefter followed up in the report stating that quarterback Jayden Daniels, linebacker Frankie Luvu, and tight end Chig Okonkwo are all making the trip to London. Whether Daniels, Louvu, & Okonkwo will be active for the game is yet to be determined, but it is a better sign than simply being ruled out.
The Daniels situation is the one to watch. Washington’s franchise quarterback traveling changes the entire complexion of this game against Indianapolis.
Washington is a fundamentally different offense when Daniels is under center, & any positive momentum toward him playing Sunday should encourage a fanbase that has been holding its breath.
