Adam Peters delivers massive Jayden Daniels injury update: Commanders’ season outlook just changed for the better
After a week of fear surrounding Jayden Daniels’ dislocated elbow, the Washington Commanders received the best possible news from multiple specialists.
The Washington Commanders received a massive update on quarterback Jayden Daniels’ injury status. General Manager Adam Peters went on 106.7 The Fan with the Sports Junkies, and dropped a line that should ease the concerns of every Commanders fan who has been holding their breath since watching that dislocated elbow replay on a loop.
“He met with doctors all over the country. We got a lot of good opinions. As of right now, surgery is not on the table and we haven’t discussed IR,” Peters said.
Adam Schefter confirms Jayden Daniels will not hit injured reserve
Adam Schefter also had a report that came out stating that Daniels will not be placed on the injured reserve.
From seeing the injury replayed so many times on Fox and having the big scare of thinking Daniels would be done for the season, for him to be reduced down to a week-to-week evaluation is a tremendous bright spot for Washington. Multiple specialists were consulted across the country, and the consensus landed in the best possible place: no surgery, or injured reserve. A real, tangible path back to the field is now on, possibly within the month.
The schedule could save the Commanders
Here’s the point. Washington’s early schedule looked daunting on paper, but that difficulty might actually work in the Commanders’ favor now. If quarterback Marcus Mariota can keep this team aligned, tread water, & maybe steal a game or two before Daniels returns, the Commanders are right back where they started entering the season.
Daniels could return to top form shortly after that, and the stretch run becomes a completely different conversation.
The fear was a lost season, but it’s now changed to Daniels trending toward being back sooner than anyone expected. That’s the update Washington needed.
