The Tennessee Vols need Adidas to step up and help the football program out again in a big way, and Adidas doesn’t need to wait around
The Tennessee Vols switched to Adidas earlier this summer, and they need the clothing brand’s help….again.
One of the perks of Tennessee’s switch from Adidas to Nike is the apparel brand’s willingness to help the Vols land recruits via NIL assistance.
It’s unclear how much and how often Adidas is willing to help Tennessee, but it’s believed they were involved in the Vols’ pursuit of 2027 five-star running back David Gabriel Georges (who eventually committed to Tennessee).
Tennessee needs help from Adidas again to secure a big-time commitment
Tennessee could use some some help from Adidas again to help secure a commitment from a five-star recruit.
The Vols are working hard to flip 2027 five-star EDGE DJ Jacobs from Ohio State.
Jacobs was in Neyland Stadium last weekend for Tennessee’s big matchup against Texas.
The five-star recruit is expected to return to Knoxville in November for the Vols’ game against LSU (though that could change, as visits often do).
Tennessee has a real chance to flip Jacobs, but it won’t be easy (it’s never easy to flip recruits from Ohio State).
That’s where Adidas can help.
Jacobs signed with Adidas earlier this year.
This seems like the perfect opportunity for Adidas to kick in some funds to help Tennessee flip Jacobs from the Buckeyes.
Adidas can’t help every time the Vols need to land a big recruit, but there are certain scenarios where it makes sense.
And this is one of those scenarios.
We saw last weekend in Tennessee’s loss to Texas how impactful a game-changing pass rusher can be (Longhorns EDGE Colin Simmons had five sacks). No one knows for sure if Jacobs will be that same type of player at the next level, but he’s rated by 247Sports as the No. 1 recruit in 2027 class, so he certainly has a chance to be that type of player.
If Tennessee is going to consistently compete at a championship level, they need players like Jacobs. And Adidas needs to step up to help get it done.
