For the Dallas Cowboys, the story of the game going into Week 4 was protecting QB Dak Prescott against a fearsome Houston Texans edge rusher duo. Will Anderson Jr. and Danielle Hunter taking on Terence Steele and Tyler Guyton seemed like a potential mismatch in favor of Houston.

It wasn’t. Though Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb rightfully have drawn the most attention from the media after the game (they headlined our winners and losers list), there was another player whose dominance is a huge development for the offense moving forward.

Tyler Guyton has a perfect game in pass pro

That’s right, starting Cowboys left tackle Tyler Guyton did a heck of a job blocking as Dak Prescott dropped back 50 times. And he did it against one of the premium edge rusher rooms in the NFL.

Guyton allowed zero pressures throughout the entire game, according to Sumer Sports.

The young tackle entered Week 4 playing very solid football but to put up such a performance against the Texans defense is a statement. The hype is real and gone is the developmental starting offensive tackle. Guyton is here and is a weapon for the Cowboys offense.

In addition to his improvement as a pass blocker, Guyton is doing a great job run blocking. The 6-foot-7 lineman is playing bigger and meaner than he had in his first two years in the league.

The best part is he’s doing all this without starting left guard Tyler Smith next to him. The latter started the year on Injured Reserve and is expected back soon. He’s eligible to return from IR for Week 5 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but his status is unclear with it being a short week.

If the Cowboys want their offense to be what leads them to the playoffs (and based on how the defense is playing, they will need it to), offensive line play will be as important as wide receiver play. Fortunately, the Cowboys’ investment on Guyton is paying off in Year 3.
