‘This game is almost always close’ – National media outlet predicts the final score of Oklahoma vs Texas
The Oklahoma Sooners and the Texas Longhorns will meet in Dallas.
The Texas Longhorns and Oklahoma Sooners will meet in Dallas this weekend for a huge SEC showdown.
Texas has won three of the last four games in this rivalry after losing four straight from 2018 to 2021.
The Longhorns are having the better season, and they have the better roster, but the result of this game has been close in some years when it shouldn’t have been.
CBS Sports’ Chris Hummer and Brad Crawford made their predictions for the game, and they have Texas winning.
Hummer has the Longhorns winning 20-17.
“Historically, this game is almost always close,” wrote Hummer. “Nine of the last 14 regular-season matchups were decided by a possession or fewer. I haven’t seen anything so far this year that makes me feel differently about this game. I have more faith in Texas than Oklahoma. … At the risk of far oversimplifying a complicated game, I feel very confident in saying the QB who plays best, be it Texas’ Arch Manning or Oklahoma’s John Mateer, will win this game. I have slightly more faith in Manning at this point, so give me the Longhorns to win in a close one.”
Crawford, meanwhile, has Texas winning 24-14.
“I just can’t envision a reality in which Oklahoma scores enough points with this offense against Will Muschamp to warrant picking the cover here,” noted Crawford. “Even with an extra week to sort out the struggles with the passing game under John Mateer, this Oklahoma team plays with little confidence when it has the football, and that means something against the No. 1 team in the country, hoping to tee off on the quarterback.”
Oklahoma vs Texas will kick off at 2:30 PM CT/3:30 PM ET on Saturday. The game will air on ABC.
