The Miami Dolphins’ latest roster addition was turning heads before a blockbuster trade unexpectedly made him available
The newest member of the Miami Dolphins earned himself plenty of fans from his time in Chicago.
The Miami Dolphins‘ roster churn brought in yet another new face at the end of this week. This time? It’s a pass rusher from an NFC contender. It’s a safe assumption that former Chicago Bears defensive lineman Jamree Kromah won’t dress in Week 8 against the New England Patriots. But the fanfare he’s leaving behind in Chicago suggests we should expect him on the field soon.
Potentially even as early as Week 9 against the Detroit Lions. I tabbed my A to Z Sports colleague, Kole Noble, for his insight into how Kromah was perceived with the Bears.
New Miami Dolphins waiver wire addition Jamree Kromah earned plenty of fans in Chicago

“Jamree Kromah, a former undrafted free agent out of JMU, was quietly with the Bears organization initially on the practice squad after coming into the league in 2024. With Montez Sweat, Austin Booker, Dayo Odeyingbo, Daniel Hardy, and Shemar Turner occupying most of the conversation off the edge in Chicago, Kromah wasn’t able to receive much attention. That changed this season when Kromah started to shine in training camp.
Head coach Ben Johnson praised how Kromah was taking to the coaching under Dennis Allen and how they saw the light starting to come on. During the preseason, Kromah’s get-off and relentlessness was on display. That led to him earning a spot on the 53-man roster ahead of the regular season.
With Sweat suspended and Odeyingbo injured, Kromah finally got the opportunity to make his season debut over the last two games. He played 28 defensive snaps and held up well against the run, but didn’t get to really show the pass rush ability he showed during the preseason.
My understanding is that the Bears released Kromah to open a spot after the Jeffery Simmons trade with the idea that they could bring him back on the practice squad. That’s the risk of playing the waiver game with a young player that has recent tape for the rest of the league to watch. Now in Miami, Kromah will get hopefully get more opportunities to see the field, take his development to the next level, and make a consistent impact.“

This is how the Dolphins have to operate for the rest of the season. Gobble up any loose ends from good teams, hoping that they’ll eventually go on to be keepers. Miami has done this with names such as Christian Haynes (Seattle), Jared Wayne (Houston), Justin Joly (Denver), Jarrett Kingston (Houston), and others.
So far, Kingston has made the biggest impression — and he has a chance to make yet another one with a start on Sunday against the Patriots. Kadyn Proctor has officially been ruled out for the contest as he works through concussion protocol. Kromah will be the next to work his way into the swing of things with this roster. But I guarantee you he won’t be the last.
