The LSU Tigers added another piece to their 2027 recruiting class, landing 4-star safety Jayden Anding. The 6’0, 175-pound defensive back out of Ruston, Louisiana, committed to LSU over Ole Miss and Oklahoma, giving the Tigers their second 4-star safety commit in this cycle.

Anding is an 89.65 composite rating player, a top-300 recruit nationally, the No. 20 safety in the country, and the No. 9 player in the state of Louisiana. He took only one visit to LSU and one visit to Oklahoma. That single trip to Baton Rouge was all he needed.

“Deep, deep down in the waters where I was raised,” Anding said as he announced his commitment.

What Anding brings to LSU’s secondary

There’s not much to say here other than Anding has the physical tools to develop into a legitimate SEC safety. He’s got length, speed, and size. The combination of those traits at his position makes him a prospect with a high ceiling, and LSU’s coaching staff will have time to mold him before he’s asked to contribute on Saturdays.

This is an in-state kid who probably always wanted to be a Tiger, and now he gets that chance. Oklahoma was high on Anding as well, so the fact that LSU pulled him in with just one visit says a lot about where the program stands in the eyes of Louisiana’s top talent.

LSU’s recruiting class continues to climb

Anding is not the Tigers’ first safety commit. LSU already flipped 4-star safety Greedy James from Texas earlier in the cycle. So now they have two 4-star safeties in the fold, two guys who could be big-time players in the secondary down the road.

When you look at the full picture, LSU’s class is shaping up nicely. The Tigers currently hold a top-10 nationally ranked class and the No. 5-ranked class in the SEC, with 1 5-star and 10 4-star commits. That’s an impressive haul, and the momentum doesn’t appear to be slowing down.

LSU’s head coach and staff are recruiting at an elite level right now. The Tigers are stacking talent at multiple positions. And, they are adding a second high-end safety, which only strengthens what’s already a deep class. It’s going to be fun to watch how this group develops once they arrive on campus.
