The early signing period is nearing for the college football landscape and that means teams are making last-minute efforts to flip recruits before they sign on the dotted line. Ohio State, like every other program, is trying to hold on to its verbal commitments for just a bit longer.
One player who has shown plenty of attention to other college programs is five-star cornerback Na’eem Offord. Offord has been committed to Ohio State since February but has visited multiple schools on multiple occasions since then.
Now, it appears Offord will be in Florida this weekend when the Gators host the LSU Tigers. It will be an official visit for Offord when he is in Florida and he will be one of a number of recruits that the Gators have in town.
Visiting an SEC program is nothing new for Offord. He has visited Auburn numerous times over the last few months and the Tigers even hold a crystal ball prediction. Now, Offord seems to be willing to at least see what the Gators have to offer. It is worth noting that Florida is having a disastrous 4-5 season in the SEC.
Offord is the No. 11 player in the country and the No. 3 cornerback, according to the 247 Sports Composite rankings. The Buckeyes also have Devin Sanchez verbally committed, who is another five-star cornerback prospect.
When Ohio State traveled out to Eugene, Oregon to take on the Ducks earlier in the season, Offord was on Oregon’s sideline for a visit. To this point, it seems as if the Ducks may be the biggest threat to Ohio State when it comes to the elite cornerback’s commitment. Oregon is recruiting at an elite level right now and they have hit the ground running in the Big Ten.
Only time will tell if Ohio State can hold onto Offord’s commitment. He will be in Florida this weekend we now know and the Gators will be making their pitch.
