The Ohio State Buckeyes have a chance to add a couple of key recruits to their 2027 haul over the next couple of weeks.

Ohio State will hear from four-star DL Karlos May on Saturday and they’re the favorites to land the interior defensive lineman from Alabama. The bigger focus is on what will happen on July 22 when five-star RB David Gabriel Georges announces his decision

Last week it was stated by Gabriel Georges’ uncle that a decision had been made by the elite running back recruit ahead of his commitment date.

“He’s already made his decision,” his uncle, Jean Agenor stated, via Rivals. “We had our meeting last week. We went through the three programs and how he feels about them and how he feels about his opportunity to play right away and his opportunity to make it to the league in three years.”

Ole Miss is the third team in the race for Gabriel Georges, but they seem to be a non-factor in the recruitment at this time. Gabriel Georges did a recent interview with On3’s Chris Low and revealed he actually hasn’t made a decision yet.

“It’s complicated,” DGG stated. “It’s hard. You feel this way, like you know, and then it’s sort of 50-50. People will say the 22nd of July is far off, but honestly, for me, it’s pretty close. So, yes, you feel like you know, and then I will call my mom and dad, and they’re like, ‘We love both. It’s your decision.’ I’m like, ‘Oh my God, I need something (laughing) because I’m going to be playing there for the next three years and live there.’ So you just want to make sure you get it right.”

It sounds like a true coin flip on which way this one could go. Ohio State has put all of its running back focus on Gabriel Georges for the 2027 cycle, and missing on him would be a gut punch for running backs coach Carlos Locklyn and the Buckeyes.

The July 22 date is an important one in Columbus where the Buckeyes could be landing a key piece of next year’s team. Gabriel Georges is the kind of player that’s going to have an immediate impact where he goes, we’ll see if it’s Columbus.
