I never thought I'd write this, but it appears that an Alabama player has become a fan favorite among Tennessee Vols fans.

Seriously.

Vols fans have had an overwhelmingly positive reaction to Crimson Tide QB Bryce Young's explanation on why he's playing in the Sugar Bowl against Kansas State.

Young and teammate Will Anderson, an edge rusher who could be the No. 1 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, both decided against opting out of the Sugar Bowl despite their status as potential top-five draft picks.

On Monday, Young explained his decision.

"It’s another opportunity to go out there and play with my brothers,” said Young. "Again, I’m grateful for the chance we have, for the opportunity we all have – individuals and as a team. This is a huge opportunity. This is a big game to play against a really, really good team. We have a lot that we wanna prove to ourselves, there’s a lot that we wanna accomplish as a team and I’m just happy to have another chance to play with my guys.”

After hearing Young's comments, numerous Tennessee fans took to social media to express their appreciation for the Alabama QB.

I certainly understand the decision by various players to opt out of bowl games — they have to think about their future and what's best for it.

But at the same tie, it's refreshing to see a superstar like Young — someone who has a bright NFL future ahead — choose to take the field one more time with his team in a game that pretty much is just for pride.
