Former Tennessee Vols QB Joe Milton has an obvious NFL landing spot after major injury news
Former Tennessee Volunteers quarterback Joe Milton is currently on the Philadelphia Eagles’ roster.
If one NFL team is smart, they’ll pick up the phone and offer the Philadelphia Eagles a trade for former Tennessee Vols quarterback Joe Milton.
Milton, who is in his third season in the NFL, started the season on the Dallas Cowboys’ practice squad. The Eagles signed him off the Cowboys’ practice squad after starter Jalen Hurts was shut down for the season.
The former Vol hasn’t seen any action with the Eagles this season.
The Baltimore Ravens should try to trade for Joe Milton
The Baltimore Ravens are reportedly in the market for a quarterback with starter Lamar Jackson heading to IR for a thumb injury, and backup Tyler Huntley dealing with turf toe.
There are rumblings that Baltimore is interested in trading for Chicago Bears backup quarterback Tyson Bagent.
Bagent makes sense for the Ravens since Baltimore offensive coordinator Declan Doyle was the offensive coordinator for the Bears last season and obviously coached Bagent.
I think Milton, however, could be an interesting option for the Ravens.
There aren’t many quarterbacks in the NFL who have physical traits similar to Jackson. Milton is one of the few who possess an elite skill/size/speed combination (though Milton, who is more comparable to Josh Allen’s size, is a little bigger than Jackson).
Now, that’s not to say that Milton, who has looked good in limited action in the NFL, could step into the Ravens’ offense and replace Jackson.
I mean, Jackson is one of the top players in the league when healthy. He’s a two-time NFL MVP who has put up some incredible numbers during his career. Jackson is a rare talent.
But Milton at least has the skillset to do some of the things Jackson can do on the field, so the Ravens could attempt to run their same offense (tailored to Milton, of course) with the former Vol.
We haven’t seen Milton in extended action yet in the NFL. It would be nice to see him get an opportunity, and the Ravens could be a great fit.
And most importantly for Baltimore, it probably wouldn’t cost anything more than a late round draft pick.
