Former Lady Vols point guard Jody Adams reportedly has a new head coaching job.

Adams, who was recently fired after spending four seasons at the head coach at New Mexico State, has been named as the new head coach at Bradley Central High School.

It’s a homecoming for Adams, who played at Bradley Central before beginning her college playing career at Tennessee.

“I played for Jim Smiddy (at Bradley Central), the winningest coach in the nation at the high school level,” said Adams earlier in her career. “He was ahead of his time by bringing guys in to practice to play against. Coach Smiddy was a competitor. Everything with him was hard-nosed. You had to be tough to play for him.”

Adams played at Tennessee from 1990 to 1994. She was the starting point guard on Pat Summitt’s 1991 national championship game.

“Winning a national championship with only had 11 players and beating Virginia in overtime is a feeling I can recall today,” said Adams years ago. “I love to pass those memories on to those I coach. I want my team to win championships and to have the same feelings.”

The former Lady Vols standout also spent time as the head coach at Murray State and Wichita State.

Oddly enough, Adams has never been a Lady Vols assistant coach.
