The Tennessee Vols are expected to make another big move in the AP Top 25 poll after a big road win over Georgia Tech
The Tennessee Vols left Atlanta with a big 45-24 win over the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on Saturday night.
The Tennessee Vols are expected to make another big move in the AP Top 25 poll following a big 45-24 road win over the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.
Tennessee started the season ranked No. 20 before moving up to No. 18 after a season-opening win over Furman in Week 1.
On3 and CBS Sports are both predicting that Tennessee will move up to No. 16 in this week’s AP Top 25 after the 21-point win over Georgia Tech.
“Faizon Brandon’s first road start was bumpy at times, completing less than 50 percent of his passes and totaling just 148 passing yards, but DeSean Bishop’s explosiveness on the ground led the way as he racked up 190 rushing yards and two scores in the 21-point road win at Georgia Tech,” noted CBS Sports’ Chip Patterson.
“The two teams battled pretty close to evenly through three of the four quarters,” added On3’s Thomas Goldkamp. “But Tennessee dominated the second quarter, winning the frame 17-0 to take the lead in the contest and force Georgia Tech to chase the lead the rest of the game.”
The expectation is that Oregon and Oklahoma, which were both ranked well ahead of the Vols, will fall below Tennessee when the new AP Top 25 poll is released on Sunday afternoon (the Ducks lost to Oklahoma State and the Sooners lost to Michigan).
Tennessee will be back in action next Saturday for a home matchup against Kennesaw State before a huge game against Texas on September 26.
