Tennessee takes a tumble in ESPN’s latest college football power rankings
ESPN revealed their updated college football power rankings on Monday morning and the Vols took quite a tumble.
Tennessee fell from No. 15 to No. 23 in the updated power rankings.
ESPN’s Bill Connelly pointed to the Vols’ inability to effectively run the ball in recent games as a big issue for Tennessee.
“Tennessee averaged 5.6 yards per carry and 37.4 rushing attempts over its first seven outings,” wrote Connelly. “Over the past two: 31.5 carries and 3.4 yards. The run game has abandoned the Volunteers as of late, and in Saturday’s 33-27 loss to Oklahoma, their backs rushed 24 times for just 69 yards.”
Tennessee is off next weekend before finishing the season with games against New Mexico State, Florida, and Vanderbilt.
