Where the Tennessee Vols land in updated top 25 rankings following first wave of transfer additions
The Tennessee Vols will featured a new-look roster this upcoming season. Vols head coach Rick Barnes has been hard at work this offseason rebuilding Tennessee’s roster so the program can finally reach a Final Four.
The Tennessee Vols are in the process of overhauling their roster this offseason.
Tennessee has added four transfers to the roster so far — Dai Dai Ames, Jalen Haralson, Tyler Lundblade, and Miles Rubin.
The Vols also lost several players from last year’s team to the transfer portal — notably, Bishop Boswell, Jaylen Carey, JP Estrella, and Ja’Kobi Gillespie.
Additionally, the Volunteers are losing Felix Okpara (eligibility) and possibly Nate Ament (Ament has yet to make a decision on the NBA Draft).
There’s still work to be done — Tennessee is hoping to land Wake Forest transfer Juke Harris — so we still don’t know exactly what the Vols’ roster will look like next season.
But that didn’t stop On3 from putting out some early Top 25 rankings on Thursday.
And On3 currently has Tennessee at No. 17, one spot below Texas and spot ahead of Missouri.
I don’t think there’s much value in college basketball rankings in April — especially when rosters haven’t been finalized yet — but it’s always interesting to see how programs are being viewed nationally.
If Tennessee lands some of their top remaining targets (such as Harris), I could easily see them knocking on the doorstep of the Top 10 when On3 reveals its next rankings update.
