The Buffalo Bills will have to close out their game against the Detroit Lions without arguably their best offensive skill player. Wide receiver DJ Moore has officially been ruled out with a shoulder injury, per Ian Rapoport and multiple other outlets.

The timing could not have been worse for Buffalo. The Lions were in the middle of mounting a comeback after getting dismantled in the first half, and the Bills now have to hold them off without Moore, though they are doing a good job thus far.

What we know about DJ Moore’s injury

If there is a bright side, at least as of now, the Bills are calling it a shoulder injury. Moore is getting X-rays, and the severity remains unknown. The situation is fluid, and there is no clarity yet on what exactly he is dealing with or how much time he could miss beyond the remainder of this game.

For those who watched the play in real time, it looked a lot like a collarbone. Moore appeared to be in significant pain. He did get up and walk off the field under his own power, grimacing some but able to move his upper body. The fact that the injury is only being labeled a shoulder at this point could be a good sign for the Bills, but it does not mean they are out of the clear or that the injury is not severe.

Moore’s injury is not the only concern for Buffalo. Wide receiver Keon Coleman went down earlier with an ankle injury, though he did return to the game. Before kickoff, the Bills had to label defensive tackle Ed Oliver inactive out of nowhere, a move no one really saw coming.

The bottom line is this: as the Bills try to hold on, they are dealing with real attrition. Multiple key players on both sides of the ball are either out or banged up, and the Lions are not going away quietly.
